The 15 mile course ran through New Lynn, Glen Eden, Henderson and Te Atatu South. For 1980-1996 and 1998-2002, the half marathon course ran from New Lynn, through Blockhouse Bay and Lynfield; for 1997, a circuit between New Lynn and Green Bay was run.
