Notes: 1970 is the inaugural year. The 2001 race was cancelled due to an outbreak of foot and mouth disease. For
1974-87 and 1989-99, there were two sections held, a standard section for those runners not expecting to run under
5:30 and an elite section for those expecting to take less than 5:30. Men's winning times are all from the elite
section. In the 1973 race, Jos Naylor did not complete the ascent of Bradda Hill and so his 4:20:01 was not counted
as a new course record. The course from 1973 to date has had 8000 feet (2400 meters) of total climb. All courses
start in Ramsey and finish in Port Erin. The course winds southwestward, ascending two summits before reaching
the highest point at the summit of Mount Snaefell (621 meters) and then numerous additional ascents before reaching
Port Erin.
