Notes: 1946 was the inaugural year. Thru 1991, the race was known as the Koshin Marathon (short for Kochi Shinbun
Marathon). This race served as the Shikoku Championships for 1955-1958. The 1991 race was held in conjunction with
the selection race for the World Student Games Marathon; the first finisher was Minoru Kishimoto (JPN) in 2:21:41.
In 1997, the women's race was the selection race for the World Student Games half marathon. Thru 1963, the course
had only been measured by a car odometer; in 1964 it was first certified by the JAAF. The first finisher in 1982
was Korekazu Sakuma (JPN) (2:28:18) but he was not officially part of the race.
