close to 18.5 km. The race distance in 1980 was 30 km. The women's race distance for 1976-1980 was 5 km. In 2006,
the first women's finisher, Chihiro Fukunaga was not registered with the JAAF; the first JAAF registered woman
was Chiemi Koana (JPN) who finished in 2:54:54. This race was known as the
Kawaguchiko Marathon thru 2011 and the venue changed its name from Kawaguchi to
Fujikawaguchi.
