Notes: Over the past few years this marathon has consistently turned out short when the times are analyzed according to the Race Time Bias (RTB) formula. In 2019 twenty time comparisons result in a figure of -8.10 sec/km -- much more than the allowable -5 sec/km. Even if the two most extreme calculations are disregarded, the figure still is -6.19 sec/km. The 1998 course was probably short by a considerable amount. The 2003 course was inadvertently lengthened to 44.8 km.  This course drops 7.58 m/km. In 2011, Sityhiko Diko (RSA) ran 2:23:40 to finish first but then was disqualified for being under age 20.
