on any of the three (or two) available days and the 48 hour runners could start
on either of the first two days. In the 1998 race, women's winner Ehret actually started on 29 Dec
1998; in 2011, the men's winner Hammer started on 30 Dec 2011; in 2013, the
men's winner Holmes started on 28 Dec 2013. The men's winner in 1998, James Bonnett was 12 years old.
In the 48 hour race, the 2011 men's winner, Jackson, started on 29 Dec 2011.
